Question
What meetings has the Welsh Government held with the Welsh Rugby Union regarding the structure of regional rugby, and what is the Welsh Government current position on maintaining four professional regions?
Answer
Answered by Trefnydd, Chief Whip and Cabinet Minister for Culture and Sport (Heledd Fychan)
A formal meeting with WRU representatives is being arranged, following initial discussions.
Whilst I am clear of the need for meaningful engagement with all parties on the future of Welsh rugby and the need to consider the long-term impact, decisions on the future of the game in Wales are a matter for the WRU.
