What assessment has the Government made of the impact of centralising vascular services at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and closing the service at Ysbyty Gwynedd?

Atebwyd gan Minister for Health and Social Services
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board took the decision to reorganise vascular services in order to make them safer and more sustainable for the future. The health board invited the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) to undertake a two part review into the new service to provide assurance and make any recommendations for improvement. Part one of the RCS review essentially endorsed this service change and there was no suggestion that the previous service arrangements should be reintroduced; however, there is more to do to improve the service and the health board is committed to implementing the RCS’s recommendations. We are in regular dialogue with the health board and will continue to monitor progress within the vascular service.
