Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care
The Stage 1 Initial Implementation plan for moving towards a National care and support service for Wales is currently being delivered and this includes the Programme for Government commitment to develop a national performance and outcomes dataset.
Welsh Government has put in place the Performance and Improvement Framework for local authorities. This framework covers three main areas: data relating to activity and performance, people’s experiences and outcomes; and how evidence can be used to drive improvement.
Welsh Government has been working closely with local authorities to develop and refine the dataset, and it has been collected and published by Welsh Government on the StatsWales website. This means that data relating to local authorities’ activity and performance can be used by the wider sector to understand how services are being provided.
Welsh Government also has published guidance for local authorities on how to measure and understand people’s experiences and outcomes of social care. These outcomes are used to inform the Local Authority Social Services Annual Reports which are submitted to Welsh Government on an annual basis.
