Question
What civil service reform metrics has the Welsh Government established to measure administrative efficiency within the Welsh Government?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Minister for Government Effectiveness & the Constitution (Dafydd Trystan Davies)
Responsibility for the detailed management and reform of the Civil Service sits with the Permanent Secretary. We meet regularly and will continue to discuss these matters as part of our ongoing engagement.
The Welsh Government monitors administrative efficiency through its corporate balanced scorecard and wider performance reporting arrangements. This includes indicators such as sickness absence, payment performance and the timeliness and quality of ministerial correspondence, which are reviewed regularly to inform improvement. A subset of these metrics is published externally through the Welsh Government’s annual accounts and performance reporting.
This approach continues to be developed as part of ongoing work to strengthen efficiency and effectiveness across the organisation.
