- Mr Irranca-Davies pledged to work with every Member so that the Senedd is relevant to every part of Wales and engages with everyone in Wales.
- He said he would carry out the role with openness, collaboration, fairness and impartiality, and with respect for colleagues, democratic processes and the people of Wales.

- Zaynub Akbar (Plaid Cymru) nominated Rhun ap Iorwerth, Llŷr Powell (Reform UK) nominated Dan Thomas, and Andrew RT Davies (Welsh Conservatives) nominated Darren Millar.
3. Nomination of the First Minister under Standing Order 8
Rhun ap Iorwerth said he would lead without prejudice or presumption and serve every community. He paid tribute to his predecessor, Eluned Morgan.
- Rhun ap Iorwerth (Plaid Cymru) thanked his family and paid tribute to Eluned Morgan, saying she had shattered a glass ceiling.
- He congratulated the other party leaders and the Green Party, and said he would always welcome scrutiny.
- He said a Plaid Cymru Government would serve everyone in every community, urban and rural, whether or not they speak Welsh, and would look for common ground where it exists.
- He ended by saying the aim was to build a fairer, more ambitious Wales for all, and that the work starts now.
3. Nomination of the First Minister under Standing Order 8
Opposition leaders congratulated the First Minister nominee and set out their positions. Reform UK said it would be a robust opposition, Welsh Labour pointed to its record, and the Welsh Conservatives warned of the scale of the task ahead.
- Dan Thomas (Reform UK) said his group would be a robust opposition and would hold Plaid Cymru to account. He said the Chamber has a pro-union majority and that Reform would work with pro-union parties to block public money being spent on an independence commission.
- Dan Thomas said Reform would work to break up what he called a cosy consensus that had presided over 27 years of managed decline. He wished the Government well on NHS waiting lists, education results and economic growth.
- Ken Skates (Welsh Labour) said he was deeply saddened by Welsh Labour's loss. He cited falling NHS waiting lists, new schools, new trains and environmental legislation as achievements, and said he hoped to see the same work rate from the party now in power.
- Darren Millar (Welsh Conservatives) thanked the outgoing Llywydd and the former First Minister. He congratulated Plaid Cymru on its result but told Rhun ap Iorwerth he had a monumental task and that the honeymoon period would be short.
- Dafydd Trystan Davies (Plaid Cymru) asked the Llywydd to read out again the votes for the Llywydd.
