Reform UK Debate - Guidance on complying with the legal definition of sex
Motion as amended
What this vote was about
The vote on the motion as changed by Plaid Cymru's amendment, which says further Welsh Government guidance is not required.
Reform UK's Llŷr Powell asked the Welsh Government to publish guidance on following the Supreme Court ruling that sex is biological. Plaid Cymru's Heledd Fychan replaced this with wording saying more Welsh Government guidance is not needed. The Senedd agreed the amended motion.

Delete all and replace with:
To propose that the Senedd:
1. Notes the Supreme Court judgment in For Women Scotland Ltd v The Scottish Ministers concerning the interpretation of sex in the Equality Act 2010.
2. Notes that the Equality Act 2010 continues to provide protection against discrimination on the basis of gender reassignment.
3. Notes that the statutory Code of Practice published by the Equality and Human Rights Commission is the legal guidance already in existence for public bodies in relation to complying with the Supreme Court ruling.
4. Notes that further guidance by the Welsh Government is therefore not required.
5. Recognises the Welsh Government's commitment to comply with its legal duties in respect of the Equality Act 2010, and its expectation that relevant public bodies responsible for devolved services are consistent with the law and implement their obligations with clarity, dignity and respect for everyone affected.
